Jan Stevens
is
an experienced NJ-based professional pianist-vocalist-teacher who
has
performed in the NJ and metro NYC area for over 30 years-- and has
taught piano and theory for over fifteen years. Having studied classical
and then jazz, pop music and theory since age 5, he attended William
Paterson University, studied with Harold Mabern, Walter Bishop Jr.,
Jim McNeeley and other great artists. He has worked with Roberta
Flack, Vic Damone, the Del Vikings, Jerrry Vivino, Dave Stryker,
Freddie Roman, the late Lou Monte, St. James Orchestras, Sumar Orchestras,
George Lang Orchestras, Tony Saxon Show, Rob Paparozzi, the Jerry
Lewis Telethon and many more. Mr. Stevens is well-versed in the
great popular songbook, rock and jazz traditions, along with over
12 years of classical music training.

PERFORMER: Private parties, clubs, etc. Vocally and
instrumentally, Jan performs everything from Billy Joel, Van
Morrison, Elton John, the Beatles, and Steely Dan to Harry Connick,
Jr., Bill Evans, Sinatra and Tony Bennett, oldies and more --
as well as hundreds of tunes from the "Great American Songbook"
by Gershwin, Rodgers-Hart, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Harold
Arlen, Johnny Mercer, etc.. It is always good quality music,
authentically done with heart and originality.
Mr.
Stevens' list of clients or those he has performed for include
former NJ governors Christine Todd Whitman and Tom Keane, FOX
TV's Ernie Onastas, the Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon, the
NYC Greenwich Village Chamber of Commerce, NJ metro-area nightspots,
dozens of NJ and NY country clubs and many more. He has taught
piano for more than fifteen years, beginners to advanced levels
and also produces and arranges for various CDs and demos by
local artists.

You don't need an acoustic piano to start lessons, just a decent
